LORO PIANA

Companion Species: Acknowledgement, Blanket Stories and Generations

A collaboration between Loro Piana and Marie Watt explores our connectedness to history and community through contemporary sculpture.

Watt, a citizen of the Seneca Nation, uses blankets as a metaphor that elicits conversation about how one story can change the next. The commissioned work marks the grand opening of the LP's new home in the Meatpacking District, New York.

“I see blankets as an extension of landscape and bodies; they are shelter and protection, comfort and care. Our worn, mended, nibbled, and stained blankets become evidence of this truth.”
